Various Projects I took part in while in Los Angeles in 2003.
CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN
Sunday 4th of May.
was my first job back in the beginning of May for the Extras Casting company Jeff Olan Casting. I am in a scene where Steve Martin is out in a football field (they are filming in Pasadena Bowl). The place where I can be kinda visible is as part of the cleanup crew closer to the end of the movie (1t 29min scene). There is a scene where “his” kids run out to him in the field. I am somewhat visible in the background. If you recognize me or not, well that I leave up to you. In am the most visible of the cleanup crew. For more information about this day click the Cheaper by the Dozen diary entry.
STARSKY AND HUTCH
Wednesday 11th through Friday the 13th May.
I worked on Starsky & Hutch by Warner Brothers Studios for two days. The recording was done in a huge mansion in Pasadena. I worked on Starsky & Hutch for two days. On my first day I meet my “wife,” a girl I connected with who I stood beside in the makeup/wardrobe line when ACCESS HOLLYWOOD interviewed a few people along the line. They interviewed the both of us for their 1 hour Starsky and Hutch special, which will be aired on NBC I believe the day the movie premieres (the special was dropped and did not air on TV). Jen and I looked good together and hung out together, and was placed together in most of the scenes we did for the movie. We also found out we had a 8-9 year old “son” a little boy who was placed next to us at the table at the Bat Mitzvah party. The last scene we did on the second day was standing on the dance floor in front of the stage when Starsky and Hutch (Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson) arrested the “bad” guy. The camera recorded reactions to the violence on the stage and Jen, our son and I stood smack in front of the camera reacting to it. We should be visible in Starsky and Hutch and it is going to be fun to see how visible we will be (we are not visible). I have included two pictures of the 1970’s outfit we wore in the movie. Sunday 8th – and Tuesday 10th June.
is an independent movie which most of you (and myself) will probably not have the chance to see (as of this editing March 13, 2012 I have not seen it yet). It is a movie that will be at independent movie events. I am in a night club scene and later that evening after the recording was done the crew also asked me back a few days later as a waiter. As the script editor said, “the screen likes you.” We joked about how I was stalking the characters since the crew used me in two different scenes. So they could not use me again even if we both would have liked for me to continue. For more information about the days on Lost Focus click this link.
I joined SAG sometime at the end of May and my first Screen Actors Guild job was on…
the third movie in the American Pie series by Universal Studios. I walked in the background in a hotel scene where the dad in the movie pushes his mother in a wheelchair. Friends of mine in Minneapolis saw me in the movie, but I have still not seen it. (I did so later) To read more about the day and see a short video clop click the link to the American Wedding diary entry.
In 21 GRAMS an independent movie that might be shown in Minneapolis and other places, I was picked out by the Director of the movie from the archive at Central Casting the biggest casting agency in Los Angeles to be the photo double for Sean Penn. I was the “star” this day and was the only actor on set for this special insert scene. Sean Penn fires a gun three times at (or so it seems) a guy in the movie and the scene jumps to a blurred figure firing a gun directly into the camera. That blurred figure is me wearing the cloths Sean Penn wore in that scene. I saw the movie at a SAG screening in Los Angeles. For more information, a video clip and some pictures click the link to my 21 Grams diary entry.
On Taxi by 20th Century Fox I worked on for 2 or 3 days and they just kept placing me somewhere in front of the camera. The scenes were at a Police Precinct (office) with scenes with Queen Latifa and a guy named Jimmy Falon from MTV. I was an undercover cop. For more information click the link to my Taxi diary entry.
In The Detective I played a protester protesting the death penalty. The scene was outside a prison and an undercover police car drove slowly by us while we yelled into the car.
Glory Days is another Independent movie. I worked on this for 1 day in the beginning of December and did not come back for the remaining days that were postponed to Dec 17-18 as I left for Minneapolis on the 15 I believe. I was a train passenger in the train and another scene walking outside next to a cute girl on the train station. The last movie/mini series two part episode for TV.
Music Video – There’s Gotta Be More to Life.
27th of May. With Stacie Orrico. Click the link to read more about: There’s Gotta Be More to Life.
Curb Your Enthusiasm – 9th May.
For HBO, I played a lawyer as part of the audience in the court room.
MTV – Burnt – 9th June.
A reality show were I played billiards for two days and was not at all visible which I did not mind at all for this show. Click the link for more information about my day on Burnt.
Sucker Free City – 15th June.
A pilot episode that they hoped would be picked up by the networks. I played a business man in an exclusive night club filled it seemed with all pretty model type people…hmm and I was one of them….weird.
Ok that was the list of movies and tv shows that I was a part of. After a couple of months I Los Angeles I took a much needed break and went back to Minneapolis. The day after I arrived back home, my phone rang and I was offered a job as the Personal Assistant to one of the actors in A-TEAM. Not Mr T, but one of the other main leads. The offer surprised me and the only thing I said or mumbled out was that I am an actor, I do acting jobs, I have also just arrived back in Minneapolis for a needed break. There was some silence on the call. I asked at least twice how he got a hold of my telephone number. He just had it he said or something like that. While in LA I did give out my business card (I used one of my self portraits which is on the images page) here and there so it was likely he got it from one of my cards. I end up saying no to the job, but it really shook me. Why was I offered a job the day after I had returned back again to Minneapolis??? I do not know. A what if comes up. What would have happened if I had said yes to the job? I will never know. I selected to stay in Minneapolis for a couple of months before returning to Los Angeles.
A few weeks before I returned I was also offered a job as the “poster boy” in the opening of the movie ANCHOR MAN. I was not ready to return to LA so after some discussion with my dad I decided to say no to this job as well.
In modeling well I signed up with an agency/management company that sent my ZED modeling picture card out to many places but nothing happened. The only modeling pictures I did was for my own portfolio, well almost. But I was not so much focused on modeling and was a bit hesitant to get into it. And I took a few breaksto rest back home in Minneapolis.
Well I have done modeling here in Norway and I have a model friend who works for Elite in the US and she offered to give me her agency contact numbers in New York, so that is a thought for the future.
